Văn Miếu is famous for its traditional Vietnamese architecture, beautiful gardens and courtyards, stone sculptures, stelae of doctors, and altars. The main entrance to Văn Miếu is through the Great Gate (Đại Đàn) which leads to a large courtyard. The main attraction is the Temple of Literature which consists of five courtyards and is dedicated to Confucius and other sages.
Văn Miếu is considered as a symbol of Vietnamese culture, education, and history. It is a reminder of Vietnam's Confucian past and the important role that education played in Vietnam's history. It has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a popular tourist attraction in Hanoi.
