FAQ from Pearl?
Pearl is a naturally occurring precious gemstone that is formed within the soft tissues of living shelled mollusk organisms. These mollusks are primarily found in the sea but can also be found in freshwater. Pearl’s exquisite beauty, lustre and iridescence attract people worldwide, making them one of the most valuable and popular gems in the world. This gemstone is widely used in jewellery making and can be found in various colours and shapes.
The process of forming a pearl begins when a foreign substance, such as a grain of sand or a parasite, enters the mollusk’s shell. As a defence mechanism, the mollusk secretes nacre around the foreign substance to protect it from irritation. Over time, the nacre layers continue to build up, forming a pearl. The size and quality of the pearl depend on the mollusk species, the size of the foreign substance, and the time taken to form the pearl.
